Every year, RRJ chapters across the country gather before dawn, mount up, and ride toward the rising sun — raising funds for ministry outreach while declaring His glory from the open road.
About the Event
Ride With Purpose
The Sonrise Ride was born from a deeply personal moment — the loss of Larry Smith, one of RRJ's first charter members, who found salvation through the ministry before passing away from cancer. Riding home from Larry's funeral, International Director Carl Crackel felt the Holy Spirit stir a vision: an event to reach more bikers like Larry. That vision became the Sonrise Ride.
Held annually on the 1st Saturday of June, the Sonrise Ride invites every RRJ chapter and individual member to ride together, pray for the ministry, and raise funds that keep this mission moving. Chapters may choose an alternate date if needed — what matters is that we ride.
Participants can fundraise as individuals or as a chapter. Group riding builds camaraderie, creates public visibility for the ministry, and opens doors to share the message of Jesus while wearing RRJ colors. Every mile ridden and every dollar raised goes directly to advancing the Kingdom.

Ministry Outreach
Funds raised support RRJ's year-round outreach efforts — from hospital visits and prison ministry to community events and disaster relief rides.

A portion of every dollar goes directly to supporting new and forming chapters — helping plant the ministry in communities that need it most.
Event Operations
Registration fees and donations keep the Sonrise Ride free and accessible for all riders, covering logistics, worship, and fellowship breakfast.
Missions
RRJ operates in 7+ countries. Sonrise Ride fundraising helps sustain international chapters and cross-border ministry partnerships.
